In 2001, after attending auctions on the West and East coast of the USA and in Australia, surf entrepreneur, Randy Rarick decided it was time for one in Hawaii! Thus the H.I.V.S.A. was born. Combining his knowledge of the surf industry, with his establishment and directorship of Professional Surfing, along with all his contacts in the surfing world, there was no one better equipped to launch this endeavor. He staged the first of six biennial events in July of 2001. Shown on the following pages are both the “Live” auction items, along with the “Silent” auction items. Prices are posted, there are photos from the first opening party at Duke’s in Waikiki and you get a feel for what the first of the following auctions to follow was like.
